Steam release announcement! (And major update is out)

The Steam page includes a brand-new gameplay trailer (also updated on itch page), make sure to check it out!

I am not sure what my market strategy there is going to be, most likely I'll release a free demo at some point while the game is still in development which will be the same as the free versions here. This means most of the new features won't be added to the free demo and will only be available in the full version.

This devlog is recreation of the original one which I published two days ago right after the update, I didn't know the update made the game deindexed so the so the post hasn't been shown to anybody.

Dynamic construction update is out

This major update brings in important gameplay mechanics related to construction as well as lots of new content. In real world, most of the ski resort developments happen out of season, when there's not a lot of people to bother and few to no snow coverage. In Octohill the season never ends, so the construction happens over the deep snow with all the skiers around.

Full changelog:

  • dynamic construction of most buildings
  • new skiers pathfinding, works good even in large resorts
  • new background music (5 AI generated tracks)
  • main menu got dynamic background and logo
  • new vehicle: truck (delivers resources along public roads)
  • new vehicle: snowcat (delivers resources to the less reachable sites)
  • new building: warehouse (where trucks and snowcats exchange resources)
  • new building: large ticket office (use with caution as it lets many visitors in)
  • new building: large rental shop (two floors full of equipment)
  • new building: restaurant (diner isn't enough anymore)
  • new building: multistory parking lot (99 spots for them to drop their cars at)
  • new building: large bus terminal (4 platforms for simultaneous loading)
  • new heightmap: Engelberg (Swiss town and location of several resorts)
  • new heightmap: Lone Mountain (Summit of the Rocky Mountains in Montana, US and location of a big ski resort. Also my first map in America. And the one used in the trailer)


The next major update will be focused on grooming (both the snow and the game) which includes gathering more feedback to learn which parts actually need to be groomed. Stay tuned!
